Mr. Emling has tried thirty jury cases and many more cases before the court. He began his career as a trial lawyer as a criminal prosecutor in San Diego, California. After entering private practice in Long Beach, he tried both criminal defense cases and civil disputes. Mr. Emling has had primary litigation and trial responsibility for a wide variety of cases, including antitrust violations, trademark, copyright and patent infringement claims, entertainment law cases, unfair competition claims, trade secret claims, software piracy claims, insurance coverage disputes, inverse condemnation, civil rights, wrongful termination, employment and labor code class actions, construction defect, breach of contract, commercial and residential real estate transactions, will and trust contests, mortgage fraud, and other commercial disputes. He has served as a mediator and judge pro tempore for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
